If I keep on looking forward, will I meet you again?

Rokunami

The greatest thing about being me is that my life is simple and clean. I have friends, and school is gonna be no problem for me. It was all fine, until weird things started to happen, and I was in the center of it all. It started with the picture thief, who stolen tons of photos (not to mention the word "photo"), and the strangest part was that they were all of me. I had a stalker, apparently. Not to mention, I have been having these strange dreams, all them familiar, like I had seen them before.

Today, one of my friends declared that we go to the beach, and to meet them at the train station. Normally, this would go without a hitch, but now my friends were walking, and suddenly, they stopped mid-step. They weren't moving, blinking, breathing, like all time had stopped. How was that possible, if I'm the only one moving? I was about to run over and see what had happened, when a girl was standing right in front of me. I had never seen her before, but that face somehow made her familiar. She had pale blonde hair, and wore a simple white dress. She looked so innocent with the way she was looking at me.

            She spoke. "Hello, Roxas."

Oddly, I kinda liked the way she said my name. "Uh... Hi... And you are...?" I said back. Where did that come from? I never lost the words out of my mouth before, why now? I went to ask her why she was even there in the first place, but she stopped me.

"I wanted to meet you, at least once," she explained in her gentle voice. I felt my cheeks heat up at once. A pretty girl wanted to come and meet me? That's new.

“Me?” I managed to get out.

“Yes, you,” she was mysterious, in her own way. It was somehow...attractive.

I was suddenly snapped out of my thoughts when I felt something soft brush over my mouth. She had just kissed me. Wait, what? I stared in shock as she smiled innocently and merely walked away, leaving me awe-struck and confused. A pretty girl wanted to meet me, and then she kissed me? This seemed to get better, which is until I realized she went towards the haunted mansion. I sprinted after her, yearning to ask her why she kissed me when she had just met me. I had lost her, but I wasn't one to give up easily.

The next time I saw her, was when she saved me from falling into darkness. I felt her hand grasp mine. Her hand was soft compared to my hand, which was rough and calloused. I felt a warm light emit from our hands, and suddenly, I was in a mysterious white room. She sat on the edge of a wall, looking at me through what seemed to be indigo eyes. They looked familiar. I went to speak to her, to ask all the mind-boggling questions that she had sent my way when she met me a day ago. She stopped me though, putting a finger to her lips to quiet me.

“My name is Naminé,” she introduced. Strangely, it fits her. “Roxas, do you remember your true name?”

I didn’t even get to answer that.

It was a few days before Naminé and I talked again. She had somehow brought me into the white room of the old haunted mansion. I could see the pictures on the walls, the ones she had drawn herself.

            “Roxas…”

            “Naminé?”

“Don't you want to know the truth about who you really are?” she asked me. I shook my head.

“No one knows me better than me,”

I could hear a slight laugh come from her. “Of course...”

I sat at one end of a white table, and she sat on the other side. She looked down. I felt a pang of guilt in my chest as I continued. “But...I don't get what's been happening lately.”

Naminé cocked her head innocently to her left. “Oh? And what would that be?”

The words came out before I could stop them. “When we first met, why did you kiss me?” my cheeks heated up once again. I wanted to bang my head into the wall. Stupid bluntness.

“Oh, that…” she grinned very slightly. “Well, I’ve wanted to do that for a while. You and I met before. It was a chance meeting, but after that, I couldn’t get you out of my head.  And now, you don’t even remember our meeting.”

The guilt grew bigger. I wanted to remember, heck, I didn’t know I forgot.

“I’m sorry for doing something like that,” she said, looking away from me.

“No, it’s fine. I mean… I enjoyed it…” I stuttered. She giggled. I regained my composure. “Like… It felt so right...”

Unbeknownst to me, she had gotten up and walked over to where I was sitting. She grasped my hand into hers, and gently tugged me up. I follow her command, my instincts taking over a little. She leaned in and kissed me again, only a second longer than last time. When she pulled back, I was grinning cheekily.

            “Like that,” I finished.

I was snapped out of it, being taken out of the white room and back outside the mansion. For the rest of the day, I was in a haze. Naminé had the certain effect about her, and I figured it was a good thing.

But the next time we met, it wasn’t good.

Naminé was about to taken away, and I didn’t want her to go.

“Roxas, Nobodies like us are only half a person. You won't disappear. You'll be whole!” she said to me. Us? Wait, if I was one, is she saying she’s one too?

            “You’re a Nobody?” I quickly ask her.

“Yes!” she ran up to me, grasping me by the hands “Roxas! We will meet again. And then we can talk about everything. I may not know it's you, and you may not know it's me. But we will meet again. Someday soon, I promise!” she leaned up and kissed me again for as long as possible. I gave her hands a squeeze before she was pulled away from me and into the darkness.

“Naminé!” I shouted after her, but she was long gone. A single tear ran down my cheek. I’ll miss you, Naminé…

I heard her soft voice talking to me. I replied. “You said we'd meet again, but when we did, we might not recognize each other.” I could feel my body materialize in front of Naminé. I could see her translucent form, but I knew she was there.

            She smiled. “I did, didn't I?”

I returned the smile. “But I knew you.”

“Mmm...it's strange,” she mused, a dreamy look in her eyes.

“I think I understand. I see myself the way you remember me. And you see yourself the way I remember you,” I say.

“I thought that we were doomed to remain in darkness…”

I shook my head. “As long as you’re my light to guide me, the darkness will never get us.” I placed my hands on her shoulders, pulling her closer to me. She sighed as she wrapped her arms around my neck, bringing us even closer. We both leaned in, until we suddenly stopped. Her eyes bore into mine, and I close the gap, giving her the most passionate kiss I could have ever given her.

After the battle, I had thought I lost her forever, doomed to except my fate to remain in darkness once more. But she lit the way, back into the realm of light. I followed the light, falling into the ocean, and then I heard her call out to me.

“Roxas!” Naminé waved her hand at me. My heart leapt for joy, and I swam as fast as I can, so I can be with her once more. As soon as I could touch the ground, I sprinted towards her. She seemed to glow in the sunlight that shined down from the sky. I got to her, and pulled her into an embrace.

I look her in the eyes. “We’re together again,” I breathed.

She ran her hand across my cheek. “Every day,” she whispered.

Yes, my life was simple and clean, but only because Naminé made it that way. I placed another kiss upon her pink lips.

The future is always before us, even though I don't know it.

So late, I know. Stress, and lack of sleep will do that to you.

Whoever guesses where the bold line at the beginning and the one at the end came from, gets a cookie. (They are both different)
